~Personal Birth Experiences~
"We have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful. It's that women are strong." - Laura Stavoe Harm
TATUM: (June 2006) Tatum was born at Delaware County Memorial Hospital with a Certified Nurse Midwife, a doula, and her husband at just about 36 wks after a very long and exhausting labor. He weighed 4’13”.
KEEGAN: (March 2009) Keegan was born at home in the water with two Certified Professional Midwives (one of which was her doula for Tatum's birth!), an apprentice midwife, her husband, and her 2 yo sleeping in the room next to her at exactly 39 weeks, weighing 7 lbs.
She had two very different pregnancies and births, but she is so happy for both experiences because they led her on her journey to becoming a doula, childbirth educator, La Leche League leader, and advocate for women and babies.
