~Testimonials~

"In both of my son's births 3 years apart, Lori was able to support both myself and my husband through my unmedicated labors.  She helped us navigate the medical staff and potential decisions presented to us during labor.  Her demeanor was incredibly soothing and helped both of us to maintain our calm during both labors. And her post-partum support in hospital and during home visits was fantastic. I have only amazing and positive things to say about Lori and both of our birth experiences!"
~ Kara, repeat client, Philadelphia (both in hospital)
"Thanks to Lori's extensive knowledge and her dedication to sharing all her many resources, I was able to uncover the many advantages to a natural birth.  When it came time for my birth experience, it was nothing short of amazing. Lori was instrumental in keeping me focused on all the right things.  She helped me feel empowered and in control, despite the vulnerability a laboring woman often experiences, even fears. She became family to us, so much so we had her cut our daughter's cord."
~ Joey, 1st baby, Riverton, NJ (birth center)

"We would have been completely lost without Lori! For us, she was our constant guidance and support, which was totally needed since this was our first child. She was like our GPS though the whole pregnancy and birth process! We would not have been able to have our desired birth experience without her."
~Stephanie, 1st baby, Chester Springs, PA (hospital)

From a dad:
"As an experienced ICU nurse I knew that having a baby was completely out of my league.  One of the things that I tell all my patients and families is that it is important to have an advocate in the hospital.  That is exactly what Lori was for us  and that is just the tip of the iceberg.  Lori was able to help us stay home as long as we could and was by my wife's side the entire time.  When we moved into the birthing room I realized that I no clue about how to guide my wife or how it must feel physically and mentally.  I was able to be in the moment knowing that Lori was watching out for us.  I can absolutely say that she made the experience a positive one."
~ Jeremy, 1st baby, Philadelphia, PA (hospital)

"Lori is so easy to talk to and very perceptive. She picks up on things that are not even spoken and is a great listener. She helped me to think through and prepare for the birth mentally and emotionally. I appreciated her helping me think about what I truly hoped for in my 2nd birth after a very difficult and upsetting 1st birth experience. She looked out for me as I labored, kept me focused on what I wanted and hoped for, and built a rapport with the nurse to help further ensure my birth went smoothly. And it did! She helped me to breathe and relax and gave direction very well. The encouragement in her eyes and voice alone helped me to relax."
~ Molly, 2nd baby, Media, PA (hospital)

"Thanks to Lori and the Birthing With Confidence class, my daughter was born naturally and with confidence in a hospital setting."
~ Sarah (read her birth story here)
"Having Lori take an interest in how I was feeling during the last few weeks of my pregnancy was very comforting and helpful.  From the minute I called Lori to tell her I was in labor, she was excited, supportive, and encouraging.  Knowing that I had another woman/friend/mom to support and care for my children if and when they needed it during my labor at home, was also critical.  They were able to be a part of the experience when it felt appropriate and I could focus on the task of birthing."
~ Danielle, 3rd baby, Phoenixville, PA (home)
"Words cannot express my gratitude to Lori.  She was so in tune to me and how I was feeling and she helped me to relax.  She reminded me how to continue breathing through each contraction by breathing along with me.  The options she offered me for dealing with the pain throughout my labor were really helpful because I wasn't thinking clearly enough at the time.  She stayed with me the whole labor, all day long, and I will be forever appreciative of that.  She was truly an angel.  I keep telling everyone how wonderful my doula was and that everyone should have a doula!"
~ Sabrina, 5th baby, Philadelphia, PA (hospital)

"I feel like I really needed Lori to have the birth experience I had.  She talked me through the contractions which I really needed, and she told me different things to try as my labor changed - like hanging over the birth ball on the bed, and keeping my breathing and vocalizations deep, low, and controlled to ease the pain...and it worked. I feel blessed to have found her."
~ Janelle, 2nd baby, Collingdale, PA (birth center)

"Lori's communication was excellent throughout the pregnancy. I never felt like just one of her clients but like a friend. I always felt important and special and like I had her full attention, just as all her other clients feel I am sure, despite the fact that she is juggling all of us at once. Her communication during my long labor process was always exactly what I needed when I needed it. Her instincts and demeanor are perfectly in tune with a laboring mother. Her knowledge and guidance as to what things to consider is what brought me to my non- epidural vaginal birth. Her ability to keep me calm throughout the process was amazing. I actually feel sorry for any woman that had to go through birth without a doula because I know without a doubt that their birth would have been better with one."
~ Susan C., 1st baby, Eddystone, PA (planned birth center turned hospital)

"Lori was very attentive from our first prenatal visit, through the entire labor, and the postpartum follow up.  Before Lori, I wasn't aware of my role in the birth process and how I could influence it.  I loved my entire birth experience - best day of my life, bar none."
~ Susan M., 1st baby, Philadelphia, PA (hospital)

Lori has a very soothing manner that helped keep me calm during labor.  It was great to have someone with me who had experienced childbirth before and knew what I was going through.  My husband even remarked that my behavior and how I was dealing with contractions was like night and day compared to before and after she arrived to help me.  I cannot recommend her enough!  If I ever have another child, I hope to have her as my doula again!
~ Arwen, 1st baby, Phoenixville, PA (home)

"Lori helped with pain management, encouraged me, worked with me to stay home as long as possible before going to the hospital, and assisted my husband in assisting me most effectively. When we arrived to the hospital, Lori continued to encourage me and worked in wonderful tandem with my midwife and the hospital nurses. I can honestly say that without  the support Lori provided, I would not have met my goal of a med free birth. After giving birth, Lori stayed for a long time holding my hand and helping me through some of the afterbirth pains. I cannot imagine having gone through this birth without her and highly recommend her."
~ Jess, 3rd baby, Red Hill, PA (hospital)
